IC: Both following her friend's instructions and her own want to get away from this raging Drill Bot, Whirlwind took flight with quick elegant flaps of her strong wings. She hovered just above the platform for awhile, making sure that the bot didn't suddenly choose to enter the water, before she decided to fly forward wanting to warn and quickly converse with the sentient statue on the other side.
"Excuse me, Mr Arkeyan Statue?" She started politely, hovering in front of his face.
The great statue moved slowly, his arm's folding as he turned to face the flying Skylander in front of him.
"What is it feathered one? What is it you seek?" He replied, his great booming mechanical voice a relief to Whirlwind, whom was partially concerned that there may too be something wrong with him; one of the reasons she wanted to converse with him in fact.
"Six Arkeyan Drill Bots have suddenly surfaced here! And they have started attacking us un-provoked. One of them mentioned a problem at the Arkeyan Armory, do you know what's wrong? We are bringing you one of the Drill Bots soon." She exclaimed quickly, her voice higher then usual from the sudden rush of battle.
The great statue shifted slightly, his metallic face probably resembling the closest thing a robot could mimic of concern. He closed his eye's momentarily as if concentrating hard, and upon opening them again he looked at her with immediately.
"This has never happened before, but I cannot seem to connect to the Armory. This is not a good sign. Please bring this renegade Drill Bot to me so I can check its memory and systems." Whirlwind nodded at the great statue's request and quickly flew back to the raft, keeping her eyes wide open watching the bot carefully.

IC: As Whirlwind talked to the Weapon Master about the issue, Wham-Shell continued to escort the raft towards the small island the Weapon Master resided on. The Drill Bot was furiously striking out at Wham-Shell, who had to dodge the oncoming attacks as swiftly as he could while swimming. It was a tad difficult.
"Whirlwind, I hope you bring some good news about all this!" Wham-Shell shouted as Whirlwind approached the raft. They were not too far from the Weapon Master now, his large form waiting for their arrival.

IC: "I do and I don't Wham-Shell, he doesn't have any idea what is going on and says he can't communicate to the Armory! But he will be able to scan this Drill Bot for information." She called out while flying behind the raft, choosing to help deter the Drill Bot from attacking her friend she tried to distract it by flying close to it and charging her horn but not firing, hoping the light would distract it a little.
Her efforts were futile as the Drill Bot had turned around quicker then she had expected and harshly smashed into her horn with a solid strike, causing her to be knocked back a fair distance.
Luckily Wham-Shell was able avoid enough of the bots strikes and when Whirlwind saw the platform link with the island the Weapon Master was on she speed forward and pushed the bot from behind, pushing it onto the island directly in front of the great sentient statue, whom shifted and moved his arms around the bot.

IC: The Drill Bot fought hopelessly against the Weapon Master's grip. Streams of light began to flow from the Weapon Master's core, through his arms, and into his fingertips. The streams then connected into the Drill Bot, veins of the light creating an outline on all of its edges. The bot stopped flailing, and its eyes began to glow a bright blue instead of the threatening red.
A few moments passed before the Weapon Master released his grip on the Drill Bot, which sat motionless on the ground before him. A quiet and steady whirring noise signified that it still functioned.
"I have corrected the malfunction in this particular unit. It is resting for the time being." The Weapon Master declared. "As well, I have found out that the Armory has been compromised by forces working for one they call 'Glumshanks'. This explains these malfunctions."
Wham-Shell gritted his teeth at the news, frustration evident in his expression.
"Of course Glumshanks has to start all of his attacks all on the same day. Makes our situation so much easier!" Wham-Shell said sarcastically.

IC: Smiling slightly at the humorous aspect of Wham-Shell's sarcasm, the feathery stormlover walked up to her friend and placed a paw on his shoulder gently.
"Don't worry Wham-Shell, we will be able to solve this problem. Glumshanks is probably just trying to use these poor Arkeyan Drill Bots and other Arkeyan machinery to find whatever it was that that Drill Bot said they were told to find. If we go to the Armory not only will we be able to stop these Drill Bot's from attacking the rest of Skylands, but it could also give us our very first lead on what Glumshanks is up to, which to this point we have not known anything." She said cheerfully. Hoping her manor and positive outlook would have a good effect and help elevate his obviously growing frustration.
As she was waiting for his response she couldn't help but giggle when she heard Flameslinger yell his catch-phrase 'Huzzah!' loudly from across the water. Obviously having done something to that bot near poor Gurglefin. She always found his enthusiasm amusing.

IC: "No Problem King Crab" said Flameslinger. He leaned back and sent an arrow into a high arc. When it came down it landed perfectly in the tail pipe of the drill bot on the dock. The bot turned around, looking confused for a second, then exploded.
Gurglefin sputtered out some water and gasped "THANK YOU SKYLANDER!"
Across the water he could see his fellow skylanders near that strange statue. A bridge began to form to the Arkean Armory.
"Oh great, now I've got to wait for the raft to come back again!" "They better not go on an adventure without me!"

IC: "Hmph, I suppose you are right Whirlwind. It just frustrates me that while we go to the aid of one part of Skyalnds, another is attacked or thrown into further turmoil. We cannot be everywhere at once, unfortunately."
Wham-Shell looked back to shore as the Weapons Master summoned a bridge to the Arkeyan Armory.
"It looks like we have a few minutes to spare until Flameslinger arrives to meet us. Tell me, Whirlwind, what were your plans before all of this dark news came to us?"

IC: Whirlwind smiled seeing Wham-Shell slightly more okay with the situation, although he still looked irritated.
"Well, we can't be everywhere at once no, but that is why Master Eon sought out so many of us to join the Skylanders. There is always plenty of us around to help alot of different places." She replied cheerfully as she could, cause in truth she too was a little sad that so many places in Skylands were in turmoil.
"As for what my plans were..." She started off with her normal voice, but quieted down as she spoke, turning away slightly as if it was an embarrassing topic. "Well... The Darkness that Kaos brought spread out over much of Skylands before it was banished when the Core of Light was rebuilt but... but not all of Skylands was checked to see if it was okay, so I had planned to take a trip to the Rainbow Isle and to Storm Mountain." She explained to her friend quietly, seemingly even more embarrassed and shy about the topic.
Looking back to her friend slowly she could see the confusing written all over his face, it was understandable that he hadn't heard of Rainbow Isle or Storm Mountain, most Skylanders hadn't.
"To visit and check on my family is why I wanted to go." She said finally, to end his confusion, trying her best to force a happy smile on her face.

"I plan to ask out Stealth Elf on a date!"
Whamshell and Whirlwind jumped a little and turned around to see Flameslinger standing behind them, clearly surprised that he'd gotten across the water so quickly.
"Do you think she likes me?"

IC: Whirlwind turned around to look at her flame-running friend with big wide eyes. Not only had his sudden appearance mildly surprised her but his sudden declaration was a little un-expected.
"Um... I don't know Flameslinger. I don't really talk with Stealth Elf alot. She likes to practice her stealth-arts, and she can't really train with someone who makes alot of light and colour like I do." Whirlwind replied quietly. Trying to sound as nice as she can about the topic, not wanting to discourage her friend if he really wanted to pursue the resident ninja. "But I'm sure she would like to to. She does seem quite lonely often." Whirlwind knew that it was more because Stealth Elf preferred silence, but it was atleast nice to encourage him. And who knows, perhaps Stealth Elf did like him.

IC: Wham-Shell was about to question Whirlwind further, that is until Flameslinger came out of nowhere and surprised him and Whirlwind.
"I am afraid I do not spend much time with her either. Besides the occasional fighting practice, we do not interact much. She really does prefer to be the lone elf, as it were. I am not sure if she likes you in that regard, but if you wish to gain her attention, perhaps you should attempt the rituals my people had done for generations. If a male wished to win the heart of a lady, he would present her with the most beautiful treasures he could find, as well as adorning his carapace with decorations made from the most dangerous creature he could defeat."
Offering the best advice he could give to the fiery marksman, Wham-Shell returned to where Whirlwind left off in the conversation.
"Tell me more of these places I have never heard a whisper of. I assume those must be the separate homes of your dragon and unicorn heritage?"

IC: Whirlwind had to cover her face with a feathered wing to stop herself from giggling at the suggestion Wham-Shell made. She will admit it was a good honest suggestion, and in some regards would make alot of sense. But the reason she found it so funny was in her mind she imagined Flameslinger wearing a big ornate blindfold made from various 'trophies' from his slain enemies.
"Hehehe, Flameslinger, it might not be best for decorations, but Wham-Shell did give a good idea. Just try to grab her attention with whatever you deem is good." She said cheerfully, secretly hoping he would actually try the decorations part for its hilarity value.
Her smile disappeared however when Wham-Shell inquired about her previous statement, it wasn't so much that it made her sad, it was more a nervous and touchy subject then anything. The same sort of reaction one might have remembering a bad dream for the previous nights sleep.
"Yes indeed they are." Whirlwind started, her reply feigning cheerfulness. "Rainbow Isles is a few days travel away, reaching the edges near The Waking River Isles. I... I remember little of that place... All I remember was everything was always so bright and colourful, rainbows everywhere and always visible in the skies. The Isles were littered with many small individual islands, which was usually home to one or two families of Unicorn each. The islands were connected by large rainbows, that are walk-able on by anyone." She explained the last part rather excitably, obviously showing her pleasant memories of walking on the great arches of colour.
She adopted a different pose when thinking on how to explain Storm Mountain, almost as if she was trying to put the words into another language.
"Storm Mountain you would have seen before, but probably not known what it was. It is the giant mountain behind Dragon's Peak, visible from almost anywhere when your there. It towers far higher then even the Dragon Throne itself. It was... a place of solitude really. The dragon's living there were always so... quite. Always keeping to themselves and never speaking much." She paused momentarily as she remembered the eternal silence that seemed to pervade the place.
'Never speaking to me atleast...' Whirlwind thought to herself, the forlorn memories not always easy to remember.
"It was a cold, dry, and quite place. Pretty much the opposite of the Rainbow Isles, the dragons were probably stiffer then the rock they sat on!" Whirlwind giggled at her own joke, not caring if they other two didn't understand the humour. "I didn't spend much time at either places... I... I preferred to spend my time in the clouds between the two places. They always felt more like home then the Isle or Mountain did..." Whirlwind's voice once again returned to be more quite, her face slightly duller then it had been before, a faint hint of embarrassment of speaking about her homes evident on her graceful face.

IC: "Not to be improper M'Lady, but your story makes me wonder...
Just how is it that your parents got together? Dragons and Unicorns don't usually intermingle.
I'm sure you know the famous elven poem The Dragon and the Unicorn. That was not written about YOUR PARENTS was it?
After all of this chatting the Skylanders had walked a great distance toward the Arkean Gates.
OOC: This is, of course, just a blatant invitation to get you to make up a story about Whirlwind's parents in poem form. (Extra points if its a limerick)

IC: The group continued down the path to the Arkeyan Gates, still remaining a fair distance away. The Crustacean King was using his mace as a walking staff as they proceeded along, as it provided him with some support. His injury to the chest earlier throbbed dully. He needed rest so he could moult his damaged shell, but he that would take much too long. Skylands was in danger at every moment now, and he needed to be there for it. Healing could wait.
Wham-Shell smiled as softly as he could after Whirlwind described her two homes. They sounded like very interesting places, homes of the unicorns and dragons, but he couldn't help but feel that if these places were not very welcoming to Whirlwind, then how could they be worth a visit?
If anyone were to scorn or hurt any of his friends, Wham-Shell would make sure that the perpetrator knew not to do it again.
At Flameslinger's mention of the poem The Dragon and the Unicorn, Wham-Shell felt a surge of memories push into his focus.
"A very good poem, that one is. I remember reading it from a collection of elven poems I received from an elf ambassador, back when I was a king. It was one of my favorites. Flameslinger does bring an interesting point though. Is the poem about your parents?"

IC: Whirlwind halted her walking across the great chain bridge a little at that question. The old poem surfacing in her mind. "Ofcourse I know it, although it might be a little different to what you two have heard, let me recite it for you both: There once was a Unicorn elegant and beautiful, Who lived in a land so bright and colourful, But in that land of gradure and light, There was not one mate she found right, And so that Unicorn was longful.
Up on a great mountain old and tall, There once was a Dragon with roar or call, His form was magnificent, great and grand, But with no roar he was dull and bland, And so that Dragon was forcall.
An island nearby to both mythical creatures, Was attacked by a troll with hideous features, With him he brought and army of vagabonds, And this was seen by both Unicorn and Dragons, And so they sent there finest to destroy his facietures.
Amongst the battle of Dragon, Unicorn and Troll, The Dragon was injured the wounds taking it's toll, While fighting the enemies that threaten her home, She saw an injured Dragon, his scales jade and chrome, And in all her life, had never seen a more beautiful soul.
Though there was a difference between them, She was too kind to let his wounds condemn, And so approached him without fear or care, And she saw him look at her, in captivated stare, He had never seen a creature like her, odds feelings did stem.
She healed him where he lay, his eyes unmoving, And when she stepped back, her fears of him removing, But he suddenly turned and lunged at her, But her surprise she was saved for behind her a devilish cur. And to her she found her feel to him pulling.
After the battle and the island was saved, And as they returned home, each other they craved, They told there friends of the one the fell for, But they were both shunned for it, there choices apart poor, And so they were left to see only in secret, their path braved.
Many moons did pass, and love did make way, To creatures none more different, yet their love did stay, They were hated for there love of another so different, But they couldn't care less, they would not be distant, And so they left there clans forever, to love, a vow, on there wedding day."Whirlwind stopped her recitation with a low tone, her voice echoing beautifully as she finished. "Well, that is the poem as I was taught, I do believe it was indeed about my parents but... well... I have no way of knowing. I never knew either of them." She said slightly forlorn, continuing her walk along the great chain. OOC: 8 Stanzas, 5lines to a stanza, AABBA pattern, nonsensically slightly out of place last line rhyme = Tine Standard Limerick. Challenge Complete. I would have made it longer and perhaps with more feeling, but I would have broken the limerick standards. XP
