IC. After meeting his fellow Skylanders at the core of light, Flameslinger grew restless of the others morning chit chat so he sprinted down to the lower level beach. He knew he's find an oil can down there that he could use to create more flamable arrows (and use to slick back his hair.)
But as he was almost to the docks, he heard a loud drilling sound.
Suddenly 6 Arkeyan drill bots (which looked similar to Drill Sgt) burrowed out of the rock.

OOC: Those Drill Bots sound pretty rad! Are they planned to be NPCs or enemies? In case they're planned to be enemies, remember that the Core is the hub world and no enemies can enter there, just like the actual game.

IC: Hugo was about to speak as calmly as he could manage, albeit his version of calm wasn't the same as Whirlwind's, when they all felt the ground beneath them tremble and shack.
At first Whirlwind panicked thinking it was an earthquake and stepped back nervously, but within a few seconds the distinct sound of metal drills could be heard followed the the erupting crackle of dirt being crushed.
The three Skylanders and Hugo turned there head's quickly to sound, which was coming from the lower beaches.
"What is going on?! Whirlwind, please have a look!" Hugo exclaimed in a nervous and worried tone, his face reflecting his concern.
Needing no more instructions then that Whirlwind took to the skies in an elegant leap and strong flaps, a small barely visible rainbow flowing from her launch. Dashing higher to better her view, the gently hybrid's eyes widened in shock and surprise to see the beach sporting large holes, 6 Arkeyan Drill Bots having dug through and were quickly approaching Flameslinger.
"Arkeyan Drill Bots!" She exclaimed to her fellow Skylanders' bellow, "There is only six of them but Flameslinger is down on the beach! He needs our help!" Just as she finished relaying what she could see, she started to fly forward to help the master marksman, but she halted quickly when she noticed the ground shacking once more...

IC: Wham-Shell followed Whirlwind, and watched as she descended to the confusion below. "What would Arkeyan Drill Bots be doing here? I thought they were residing in the Armory at peace? Could they be in trouble?" Wham-Shell leaped to the beach below, hoping to possibly keep the battle-ready Flameslinger and Whirlwind from attacking what may be civilians in need. Then the shaking continued, and Wham-Shell was knocked off his feet from the vibrations.

IC: Soaring quickly through the skies, her feathery wings glistened as she flew, he horn beginning to glow gently as she prepared herself to fight and defend the Core of Light. Approaching the beach, she swooped down with great speeds and landed right next to Flameslinger, whom had already drawn his bow and was preparing to fire.
A heavy thud behind her told her that Wham-Shell had quickly followed, and the loud ghostly cackle nearby signified that so too had Ghost Roaster. Taking a single step forward to prepare herself, she carefully watched the movements of the six Arkeyan Drill Bots, she didn't like hurting most enemies more then necessary so she was thankful that they were only robots as they had no sense of pain.
One of them rolled forward, its twin drill hands jerking forward quickly almost like it was about to attack, but it suddenly stopped, and then twitched slightly before moving again. Then it suddenly rolled backwards, then forward once more.
Taken a little off-guard by there odd movement, Whirlwind stood up straight to observe in a less battle-ready way. All six seemed to be preparing to attack, but at the same time they also appeared to be having trouble moving.
"What is wrong with them? Why are they acting so strange?" Whirlwind asked her Skylander companions around her. Her blue-jaded wings flapping slightly in confused frustration.

IC: After seeing one of the Bots almost charge Whirlwind, Wham-Shell nearly brought his mace, the Troll Cracker, down onto it. But when the Bot rolled backwards, and kept 'dancing' back and forth, Wham-Shell was unsure on what to do. Attack or wait?
"Is it possible that these Drill Bots have a malfunction? Is that even possible for Arkeyan tech?" He replied to Whirlwind's question, only throwing more questions out there. He could feel the tension in the air build up.
Hoping to find a peaceful solution to the situation, Wham-Shell decided to open the doors to communication.
"Arkeyan Drill Bots, my name is Wham-Shell, and I am a Skylander. My three companions here are also Skylanders. Why are you here, at the Core of Light? State your business."

IC: The drillbot in the center of the group replied:
"Ghen flshf filsfnh cvnsig? sgnsg! sgnsg!"
Unfortunately no one was believed to speak this ancient dialect any more.
Flameslinger said, through gritted teeth "If Drill Sgt was here he could probably talk to these things!" "Too bad we nave not heard from him in weeks!"
OOC: I have no plans for these things. Surprise me...

IC: The Arkeyan Drill Bots responded in an unrecognizable dialect, there mechanical light eyes flashing to mimic there erratic movements. One bot again lurched forward, his eyes flashing red momentarily.
"Ghen flshf filsfnh cvnsig? sgnsg! sgnsg!" the bot repeated once more, its words barely even coherent being as metallic and static as it was. Whatever was wrong with these bots was obviously serious.
"Arkeyan Drill Bots, please, what is wrong? I know you can understand us. We can help if there is something wrong." Whirlwind spoke gently, her voice holding an edge of worry and concern. After all, if there was indeed something wrong with Arkeyan tech, then this was a serious matter indeed.
The bots moved erratically once more and seemed to be communicating amongst themselves in a strange robotic signal language. One of them eventually moved forward, a bright flashlight appearing above its head, flashing over the present Skylanders.
Moments passed, and despite the strange movements of the bots, the flashlight remained strong until it suddenly disappeared. The bot then moved closer, its eyes now lightened in green.
"O... Objective. Brok... Find Objective." This was new, the Skylanders always knew that Arkeyan technology was amazing, but this robot must have somehow scanned the Skylanders and analysed them for a language. Sadly there message meant just as much as the first one, nothing.
"Objective?" Whirlwind questioned, "What objective?"
The bot in front wirred a little, its light-eyes flashing once again before flickering from green to red and back again. "Objective... protect armory.... Ob... to protect. Changed... Objective overridden... New objective... must find..." In a loud screech before the bot could finish its sentence its light-eyes suddenly flickered again, changing to a scarlet red before it charged forward with great speed.

IC: The Drill Bot surged forward with the determination only a robot with an objective could have. It was prepared to rip its opponents to shreds...before it got a boot to it's system. Literally.
Wham-Shell, in a quick movement, had intercepted the bot's charge and landed a solid kick in between the machine's eyes, which flickered from red, to yellow, then finally green.
"...Objective: Protect Armory. Compromised. Seek aid. Warning! Virus detected in system." The bit spoke, finally as clear as glass.
"Well that's superb." Wham-Shell groaned. First invasion, now a compromised ancient weapon storage facility. Great. Just great.

IC: Seeing Wham-Shell stop the raging Arkeyan Drill Bot with a solid kick to the head, Whirlwind happily moved behind her friend while smiling as per her nature. The bots didn't frighten her, but it was far safer behind behind someone with an exoskeleton with harder then bone feet instead of her soft padded paws.
"So I guess our mission is changed now." Whirlwind started with a sigh, although the edge of excitement was very evident, she always did like visiting a site of Arkeyan technology, it was very fascinating. She had many happy memories of helping her friend Drobot search many such ruins. "If the Arkeyan Armory has been compromised there is going to be more problems then just this little group of drill bots. Do you think that Glumshanks is behind this?" She asked while poking her head around from Wham-Shell, cautiously watching the bots encase the need arose for her to 'short-circuit' there systems with a storm cloud.

IC: After Whamshell stomped the first drill-bot, the other five attacked whatever they could.
One took off after Gurglefin who was just working on the dock nearby, minding his own business. Gurglefin fell into the water with a loud splash in surprise.
Flameslinger put a trio of arrows into the optics of the bot that was charging him. The bot blew up.
"Huzzah!" "Feel my fiery reign!" Flameslinger exclaimed
As Whirlwind took flight she circled the bot shooting missile-drills at her.
Another bot fired missiles at Wham Shell.
Normally, Flameslinger would just start firing away in a situation like this... But he had an idea. "Hey! Help me lure one of these bots over to that big Arkean Robot Statue thing in the lake! Maybe it can help us figure out what its doing here!"
Flameslinger backed toward the enchanted raft that connected the Strange statue to the beach.
OOC: I was going with the idea that these bots drilled here from some other non-safe area. Obviously the safe area is riddled with Arkean technology. These things might also be really old, or were reprogramed from a distance. Hopefully those ideas are OK.

OOC: Sorry for the slow replies today... I was cleaning my naginata. ^^;
IC: Speeding through the open skies with only the grace her heritage could have afforded her, Whirlwind had no idea how she was going to lure anything anywhere while this large missile continued to circle after her.
Flying quick then jutting sidewards or upwards did nothing to deter it from its path and Whirlwind could feel it getting closer and closer to her, she could practically feel its beep as it got closer still.
Fearing that its contact would be inevitable Whirlwind quickly took a moment of her flight to spread a powerful electric shock through her wings, empowering them for creating a large stormcloud. With a mightly flap of her feathery wings the weather-controlling powers from her burst forth creating a large dark stormcloud that expanded past her at great speeds.
Slowly down to a slightly slower speed of flight, Whirlwind timed her flight so that the missile would approach her close enough to the point that she entered the cloud for her plan to work. Jutting her flight quickly to follow the stormcloud that burst from her wings, she plunged into and through its dark static depths... but not before a brilliant flash of colour burst from her horn, the powerful rainbow exploded within the cloud as she shot through it, causing two archs of explosive rainbow to shoot from the cloud, both of them bouncing back into the engaging missile, stopping it dead in it's tracks as it exploded in a fiery inferno.
Slowing her flight now that the immediate danger had passed, Whirlwind hovered in the air while she observed the situation. From what she could see Flameslinger was trying to lure the remaining bots towards the enchanted platform that led to the Ancient Arkeyan Statue.
"Hmm... Yes, the statue would be able to tell us what is wrong with these poor drill bots!" Whirlwind exclaimed excitedly, before she swooped down with great speeds to help her friends.

OOC: I'm okay with the Drill Bots as enemies, I would just prefer that enemies on the Hub don't become a recurring element And I am lovin' your guys' posts so far! IC: Wham-Shell was thrown off the Drill Bot he had been resting his foot on, landing on his back for the second time that day. "Ugh, my shell is going to need a really good polishing later." The crustacean warrior thought. Getting back onto his feet, he noticed that the eyes of the bot he had kicked reverted back to red. "This cannot be good." Was all Wham-Shell could mutter before the bot charged him. A loud crack was heard when the drills impacted on Wham-Shell's exoskeleton, fracturing his protective shell on his chest. Gritting his teeth in a mix of rage and pain, Wham-Shell brought his mace down onto Drill Bot. Multiple times. There wasn't much left of the bot when Wham-Shell finished his assault. The pain in his chest throbbed, but he ignored it as best as he could. Wham-Shell was about to attack the nearest Drill Bot he could find, until he noticed that Flameslinger and Whirlwind were heading towards the raft that ferried anyone to the Arkeyan Weapons Master. "...makes enough sense." Wham-Shell simply thought to himself before he boarded the raft with his allies.

IC: Flameslinger was running back and fourth in a peculiar semicircle. Each time he ran his curving route, from the beach to the raft, flames erupted from his magical boots. This created a wall of flames that corralled the remaining drill bots toward the raft.
One of the 'bots ignored the wall of flames and tried to plow right through it. Apparently his programming didn't account for intense heat though, because he overheated and exploded. That made the remaining bot more careful. One of the bots had followed the Skylanders onto the raft, just in time for it to leave the shore.
"Huzzah" yelled Flameslinger, holding his bow aloft. "My plan worked perfectly!"
Trapped on a raft with an angry bot was not the most fun for the others though, and they gave him scowling looks.
Back on the dock, one last drill-bot was still looking into the water for Gurglefin...

IC: The crustacean cast a scowl at Flameslinger briefly before focusing on the threat at hand: sharing a small raft with an angry Drill Bot.
"Whirlwind, take flight! I will swim alongside the raft!" Wham-Shell jumped into the water, twirling his mace behind him to power his swim. If the Drill Bot was anything like Drill Sergeant, it should have an aversion to water with no chance of flight. In other words, it was stuck on the raft.
Wham-Shell took a moment to look back at the shoreline. There was still a Drill Bot left, searching the depths near where Gurglefin had fallen in.
"Flameslinger, there's another by the docks! Do what you do best!" Wham-Shell hollered.
