There's been a request for an area to offer trades and sales here on the forum, so I want to give you a few tips on how to go about this.
HOW TO BE A GOOD TRADER
1. Don't Rip
It sounds obvious, but you shouldn't ever have any intention of deceiving or ripping off any trader on this forum. It's not worth it, and you don't know what bad consequences could come from it. Let's face it, it's really stupid to give your address to a person you're stealing from.
2. Follow through with trades.
Don't make offers unless you actually have interest in the trade, and if you accept an offer, follow through with it. It makes people very angry when you back out of trades, or cut off communication, or whatever else. Now, just because you make an offer doesn't mean that you have to do that trade, because stuff comes up. But once you confirm a trade - that's it. Done deal. Shake on it and move on.
3. Package well and use Delivery Confirmation.
Put a little effort into packaging and shipping the figures. Don't use bubble mailers if the figure is fragile, which most are. Use small boxes if you can - they are just as cheap to mail and are much more protective. If the trader that you are dealing with wants specific shipping arrangements, make sure you attempt to accomodate them. Also, Delivery Confirmation is highly recommended. It's only about 75 cents and it guarantees that you are a legitimate sender.
4. Keep a line of communication open! Clear your Inbox!
Get rid of those extra PM's, because it's frustrating if people can't contact you. You should have a maximum of 15 messages at a time. Good communication makes for good trading. Let people know how you would like them to contact you, and try to be responsive to messages.
Try to respond to all PMs, even if you're turning down a trade. Don't leave people hanging. We're all mature people here, so no feelings will be hurt.
5. Be nice!
There's nothing worse than a total jerk. Be nice to the people you're dealing with! Say your pleases and thank yous. Ask nicely for information. If you're doing business with a person, you should be professional.
6. Respect refs.
Usually, whoever has significantly more refs in a trade gets to call the shots. Don't ask someone to send first if they're rated higher than you. If you have to send first because you don't have any refs, well, pout and wait another three days and then you'll not only get figures, you'll get your first good reference! Once you have a good number of refs, people will probably not make you send first any more.
If everyone followed those rules, then trading here would be smooth and easy. Please, do your part!
