So I know V and Tashiji are big Cynder fans - which path do you prefer? We are about to start playing with her and started with the Nether Welder path. We picked this because I anticipated the improved shadow strike path being better...
I like the range of her lightning attack on the NW path, but I'm skeptical on its damage output. Those are just initial thoughts, we're about to rumble!

Cynder is amazing! The way I play her is with her lightning path, yes, but with a twist. I'll use her shadow dash to zoom far behind what's attacking her then I will unleash her lightning. Rinse/repeat. The lightning will do almost constant damage, and I like adding the unicorn horn to her to help add to her crit/def. Even in PvP this strategy works great. She works a lot like Terrafin in the fact that once she is invisible, it is hard to get her to repop until she is ready or the skill ceases.

Nether Welder is phenomenal. The numbers on the lightning may make you question its overall worth, but it adds up incredibly quickly, and seems to hit more than the pop-up damage output would indicate. When a character is trapped inside of it in PVP, it shreds their HP, hitting almost constantly. Not quite as constantly as Eruptor's eruption, mind you, but it takes severe damage that is too much for nearly all other characters in PVP.
This path should be played a lot like Slime Serpent Zap, but she's so much stronger than that. All the tactics that get him wins will score her far more. She's not too hot against Drobot, and Flame Soul Ignitor is her bane, but playing properly, there are few who stand up. From what we've seen, Stealth Elf, Slam Bam and Dino Rang battle her about evenly, but she wins as often as she loses. She's a character who more or less lacks hard counters on Nether Welder.
