Who has the 3DS version of the game? What's your opinion of it?

So it doesn't sound like anyone out there has the 3DS version ... at least not along with a 3DS. I picked it up today so I could have the Dark Spyro and the mini portal. I've got the Ignitor and Stealth Elf on ebay, I'll be happy with however much I'm able to recoup of the cost. And now I'm in the market for a 3DS ;D

We have PS3, 3DS, and the Wii version. We found that there are severe differences between the PS3 and Wii versions, and the 3DS is just a new game in itself. We tend to use the mini portal with the PS3 version because the wireless takes too much battery power (hence the reason we are in the market for a 360 version .) I would actually keep Ignitor. He is amazing in PvP in his Sould Flame form. Hardly another Skylander can touch him.

I already have one Ignitor that I bought on ebay at least a month ago. I wanted to flip this one to help cover the cost of the game. Depending on exact shipping and ebay/paypal fees, I am hoping that I've recovered about $50 of the $75 for the game. $25 for Dark Spyro, the 3DS game and the mini portal isn't too shabby!
That is, of course, assuming the Ignitor buyer pays. He only has 3 feedback, which has me a little bit leery. I have been on ebay for over 10 years and just recently had someone not pay for what they won for the very first time. That's a drag of a process, since they get four days to pay before you can even log a complaint. After the complaint they have four more days to pay before you can close that transaction and try to sell it to someone else.
<Added: Outstanding, it was paid for.>

That sucks! We have two that have sold that have not been paid for yet. Tomorrow will be day 4. Four days after that before we can offer them back up? Horrible considering one is Whirlwind and Drill Sergeant. :/

I got to day four with two different buyers recently. After a full 96 hours have passed, you can file a complaint with eBay that will automatically notify the buyer. In the first case, after receiving the notification they went ahead and paid. The second one never paid, and luckily the next bidder down was willing to buy at their highest bidding price. But UG what an annoying process.
That being said, how is your case going? Still waiting for payment?
And completely unrelated to ebay but on the topic of the 3DS game: I bought a 3DS yesterday. BEHOLD THE POWER OF SKYLANDERS!!!

The 3DS game is really good, and was actually the game I bought first. I only later on bought the Wii version when I found out I can't erase character data without it. : ( Oh well. At least I got Gill-Grunt, Trigger Happy, and Spyro because of it. I still prefer playing the 3DS game though. If you want to know who to take in the 3DS game, go for Stump Smash and Dino-Rang. Stump Smash is pretty much invincible and breaks the entire game, and Dino-Rang is really strong too, and the most fun character to play as. Flameslinger is also a great choice for the timed challenges because he's incredibly fast, and also deals a lot of damage. In the 3DS game, Dark Spyro plays completely different to regular Spyro, and is actually quite a lot better. He doesn't control quite as smoothly as regular Spyro, but he's a much better fighter. You might be surprised at how a great character in the console game can be lousy in the 3DS game, and a lousy character in the console game is incredible in the 3DS game.

That's great to hear regarding Stump Smash, he's a major let down on the Wii. So far I've only five-gemmed the first two worlds and haven't moved on to the third yet. I haven't tried out all of the figures yet, just haven't had time (and I've only had my 3DS for a week). Tashiji pointed out that Chop Chop is pretty good on the 3DS as well. Good to see some low ranked PVP characters being useful somewhere else.

I prefer the console version due to the multiplayer option and the fact that it has more story in it. However, the 3DS version isn't bad. It's just a bit too platform Mario to my taste, where I prefer the (gamecube) Paper Mario rpg-style.

Finally got this earlier this week, and beat the story mode on Thursday. Overall I think I like the single player mode on the 3DS version better than the console version. The game is shorter, but the constant fights with enemies keeps it interesting. Disappointed with the first half of the boss battle with Hektore though.
I'm resetting all of my Skylanders to level one today, and will be posting detailed breakdowns of each character over the next few days, with damage capabilities, upgrade details, etc.

Did you just cruise through as fast as you could, or did you five-gem each level first? I went that route, and consequently am plodding through rather slowly.
Everyone here would benefit from you detailing the 3DS game - I look forward to it!

Cruised through mostly. Most of my playtime was on Tuesday when I spent 6 hours waiting for my car to get fixed and I didn't bring my portal with me, so I spent most of my time going through the story with Stump Smash and Eruptor, since I couldn't go through most of the elemental gates. Once I got home they were both up to level 6, so I figured I'd just finish the story with them and then go back and finish all of the challenges.

I just picked up my copy of the 3DS game today, haven't had a chance to play it yet, but 20 bucks off of eBay was a pretty good deal! (no toys though, of course)
EDIT: So do upgrades on the 3DS version carry over to the Console versions? They don't seem to be related, upgrade wise.

Only your levels carry over. Upgrades, like unique 3DS abilities, are only for that version.
