As with every year, there are plenty of movies, from big budget to indie, from The Avengers to Chronicle, coming out in this fine year of 2012. Which ones have you seen so far? Did you like the ones you've seen? Which are you anticipating? Discuss, critique, gush, whatever suits your fancy, throw it on here!

Back in high school and college I was a lot more into movies than I am now. Some of that is a major shift in priorities and some of it is hardly being able to afford going to the theater anymore =)
So we don't catch a lot of movies... but I am definitely looking forward to The Avengers. I've enjoyed all of the movies leading up to it... and I was a bit surprised that Thor was as good as it was. I was a fairly big Marvel comic fan in high school, but I was never interested in the Avenger group. Didn't know much about Iron Man or Captain America, let alone Thor.
I would say the highest anticipation of the year for me is The Hobbit. Although it just barely makes it into the 2012 category!
Last night we watched Dragon Hunters on Netflix. Never heard of it before... we were just looking for a movie to watch with the kids. It was very good! The animation was excellent, and the world actually reminded us a lot of Skylands! I think it was originally a French film, which may be why we'd never heard of it. A pleasant surprise.

May I ask which comics you were into? I'm a fairly big Marvel fan myself The Hobbit looks so incredibly good. I really cannot wait to return to Middle Earth and experience Bilbo's adventure! The Avengers is another big one for me, as I love the characters (especially Captain America) and the continuity of all the films. The Hunger Games looks really good too. I love the book series, and the film looks like it recreates everything true to the source. I will check out Dragon Hunters sometime, thanks for the recommendation!

Well, when I was collecting, I was only into a handful of titles. My favorite was Silver Surfer, followed by Ghost Rider. There were a few X-titles on my list as well... X-Factor and then the X-Men relaunch that Jim Lee did. Even though I never collected it, the first one I ever started reading (which got me into Marvel comics in the first place) was The Punisher, which a friend brought with him to high school.
I had two of the long comic book boxes full of them, with each one in a plastic case with a cardboard backing in it. I gave them all away to a friend a year or two ago, just didn't have room to store them safely and didn't want to watch them go to waste.
More recently I've read some Batman comics that a friend owns (especially the ones by Jim Lee!) and I was blown away by the Hush graphic novel.

The Batman graphic novels are really amazing in terms of quality. The Dark Knight Returns, Joker, and The Long Halloween are my favorites.
