So, as it turns out, the elemental power rating is the percentage of bonus damage that an attack does. As most of you probably already know, this happens when you are in your elemental zone or have a type advantage in player vs player.
Anyway, that's an incredibly simple answer, but I wasn't sure if that was really the case or not until testing through a lot of different attacks this afternoon with my son. On very small attacks it doesn't quite work out... there are some +2 on a 6 damage that should be +3 by the percentage, and I really don't know what the deal is on that. But once the attacks get a bit bigger, even into double digits, the percentages all seem right.
At first it seemed like there were never any critical hits when bonus damage was in effect, but that turned out to not be the case. I must have just been playing with a low crit character at the time.
The next step in this is to get a character maxed out on elemental power to be sure that they get a 100% bonus. And then to see if, given the wizard hat putting them over 100, if they can do more than 100% damage. I'm wondering if it will max you out at 100 even if your hat should put you over it.
This definitely has some ramifications in player vs player. Some characters in a lower tier may become a legitimate counter to a higher tier character given a type advantage with maxed out EP.
Anyway, these are some of the things about the game that interest me, so I'm sharing with the rest of you ;D
Oh yeah, by the way, we also found two attacks that don't get any bonus damage: Dino-Rang's fists that pop out of the ground and Sonic Boom's damage when the launched egg(s) hit an enemy before hatching.
After I was certain that it was a straight percentage of damage, we quit testing and therefore didn't try every single figure. There may be a few others that don't get bonuses.
