I finished up a new blog post on Spyro ( click here), and I'm really curious what everyone else thinks about which path is better for this guy. This is the first one I've been completely undecided on. Both paths have their merits.. but really seem to depend on your preferred play style. Have you tried them both? What are your opinions on either/both of the paths?

First off, I wanna say I love your articles on Skylanders Armory, they are always a joy to read and I love how you break everything down for each character. You the man!
With Spyro, I haven't been able to try out any of his paths yet, due to limited time playing the game. However, I can imagine it will be tough to decide which path to take. I like the advantages of a ranged path, but the rewards seem so much more satisfying with the melee path.
Once I'm back home in the summer, I will play through the game with him and will probably update my opinion.
Thanks for the blog!

I pick the charge because, to me, the difference between upgraded and plain fire isn't as grandiose as that between upgraded and plain charge. I do acknowledge that opinion would play a large part in this one, though, because for the life of me, I can't think of a single reason to tell a potential user not to pick either.
I do, however, find that charging Spyro does better in PVP tournaments in our house, but even then, not by all that much...

Lawl, because Spyro sucks compared to the other dragons and magic types. But in all honestly, because Tashiji had his on charge, I went Sheep Burner so we could have one of each. I like it, but like he said, both are decent.

Now that I can play both paths back-to-back, I am a bigger fan of the charge path. Flame Spyro just doesn't do enough damage for me. However, even in stun mode Spyro can't hang with the big melee boys.

It's a tough call, because Spyro's greatest power is his versatility. He can do both well enough in either path, and you'd do well to use both attacks in PvP to keep your opponent on edge, switching play styles as you see fit.
Having said that, the main advantages of the fireball path is that it's so tough to dodge. You can hardly approach Spyro from the front and not get hit. The charge path makes that you must be a lot better at aiming (even with auto aim in mind), but that stun sure looks appealing.
In the end I think it's pretty much a Bash choice: wheter your roll hits harder or your tail, your main combo will be roll/tail and as such it will not matter too much overall.
