Differences in charge time and power on Eruptor's Eruption attack between the Wii version and PS360 versions have created a rather interesting situation: Close-range characters cannot beat Eruptor on the Wii.
First, the exact reason for this: Quick Eruption, in PS360 Skylanders, is just what the name implies--a quick Eruption. Quick, but not instantaneous. Therefore, interruptable. This allows melees such as Stealth Elf to tear him apart just as they would any other generic middle-tier battler. In other words, Eruptor on PS360 = nothing special.
However, in the Wii version, "Quick Eruption" is hardly an appropriate name for the move. I prefer, "Instantaneous and Highly Deadly Eruption." This is because, in addition to an instant-cast caliber reduction in charge time, damage for those caught in the field of fire goes from mediocre on PS360 to severe.
What does this mean for PVP? Well, after a night's testing, my preliminary impression is this: Wii Eruptor is a PVP monster who cannot be beaten at close range. Fighting him as characters with exclusively close-range offense, such as Stealth Elf, Bash, Terrafin, and others, is completely futile. From the testing we've conducted, there is literally no way for these characters to defeat Eruptor. Basically, Eruptor is the Stealth Elf killer we've all been waiting for, and chews up melee characters like playthings.
Does he still suffer versus ranged characters? Well, yes, but not as severely. If a ranged character is caught in the field of the Eruption attack, they will pay, and pay harshly. In close-quarters arenas like Mushroom Grove, keep-away is not a workable tactic against Eruptor, and even the mighty Drobot is easy prey.
This is going to be the most significant tier difference between Wii and PS360 versions.
Note: These tests were conducted using a maxed-out, Volcanor-path Eruptor with all HCs complete. Your mileage may vary on incomplete characters.
