Imagine the scene: It's the Skylanders PVP world championships and you find yourself heading into the final round! Somehow they have still not released the last six characters, and therefore you've only got the currently released figures to choose from.
In order, who are the top five Skylanders you're taking to help you win the crown? Don't forget to include which path you're choosing for each one!

1) Stealth Elf. Solid counter to nearly every character in the game, potentially the best PVP Skylander overall.
2) Cynder (Nether Welder). ... For the Stealth Elves that everyone else will be packing.
3) Ignitor (Soul of the Flame) In case any opponent relies too heavily on keep-away, or ranged characters. Also, hard counter to Cynder.
4) Dino Rang (Grand Boomerang Master). A hassle for both ranged and melee characters to counter; good, balanced Earth champion, and highly adaptable.
5) Drobot (Master Blaster). To annihilate most of the field, and keep Double Trouble in check without losing much health.
On the Wii version, serious consideration to Eruptor as well.

1) Double Trouble (Channeler) - I think this is the most dominant path in the game. Eldritch Beam has sick range and just locks on for constant damage. Anyone getting close up has to deal with 3 successive magic bombs for 65 damage each. I don't even waste time with his doubles. His main weakness is Drobot, and even then he can still pull off a win.
2) Drobot (Master Blaster) - best ranged character out there. 40 damage off his afterburners hurts anyone who is able to get close.
3) Hex (Bone Crafter) - She'll always be one of my favorites. She's extremely weak to Prism Break, but no one would take him in their top five. Bones+rain of skulls is a great distance attack, bones+phantom orbs are great up close.
4) Bash (Granite Dragon) - Just so much tail damage. Charged tail for 240 is insane. Decent ranged option with his stone fist+rock throw. Not as fast of a roll on this path, but still a nice movement ability.
5) Slam Bam (Blizzard Brawler) - punches up close are very powerful. Nice speed move with his ice slide. Has a legitimate chance to slow others down with his ice prisons, allowing him to get in attack range. Might drop this one for somebody else, but he's here for now. Weak to Stealth Elf, but can still beat her.

Well, because I haven't ever touched PvP due to lack of people to play with, I am going to contribute by supplying who I think would make the best team of Skylanders World Championship...Cheerleaders.
1) Double Trouble: Can create an army of cheerleaders, and can provide visual effects with his magic. Only knows one song though, even though it is a good one.
2) Prism Break: LASER LIGHT SHOWS
3) Ghost Roaster: He can flip his head around, turn into a giant glowing green head, and can cackle cheer really well.
4) Zook: T-shirt cannon, knows a good reggae beat.
5) Slam Bam: He's cool. Can cool everyone down on those hot tournament days, and at half-time, he can show off his sweet surfing skills.
Honorary:
- Sonic Boom: Great cheerer, really loud and very enthusiastic. Honorary due to the fact she is currently on maternity leave. For a long time. Possibly forever.
- Camo: Provides free melons and other delicious fruits...at very high, skull-crushing velocities.
- Trigger Happy: Enthusiastic and nimble enough. Only downfall is that he is INSANE. And has GUNS. Very much frowned upon in the cheerleading world.
