With any pending release there is always a massive amount of speculation (iPad 3, iPhone, etc...).
What are some things that you hope to see in the next game?
What are some things you hope to see die off?
I'd like to see more customizable characters. At first it seemed to take for ever to level them up. Now I feel like I can do it in a rather short time... More options equal more game play. I know this game is targeted at a specific audience. Admittedly, I am not their target audience (23 year old married man). Yet, I feel that the game would be better if it took longer to upgrade a Skylander. Instead of stopping at level 10 it should stop at level 20 or 50! However, I see their side of it. The quicker I level up a Skylander the sooner I will want to go buy another one...
Well... here is a place that we can be heard! What do you want to see in the next game?

I want online PVP. I'd love to go head to head with Tashiji or anyone else on the forum!
In the new release, I'd like to see a third path for each character. I am not real optimistic of that happening, but it would be cool to see new options for existing figures, just like when old Pokemon get new upgrades.
I don't have such a big problem with the level 10 limit, although bumping it to 15 or 20 would give all of the old characters extra playability regardless of any other upgrades. Some way to improve hit points would be really nice. If some of the weaker figures, such as Trigger Happy, could get an upgrade that would be great. Or even if they just upped the damage of some attacks, like Chop Chop's generic sword attack. Making that stronger would scrape some of the lamesauce off his old bones.

I agree... got to have online PVP, for epic board member grudge matches! Really, online PVP is m one and only request, and if they can provide that, I'll consider my wishes satisfied.
Although, I've got to say, if they don't get rid of those stupid lock puzzles, I'll be severely disappointed. Those are a complete, annoying, co-op disrupting waste of time, and worse, overdone. Puzzle elements are nice, but these particular ones were simply obnoxious.
A level cap raise would be nice.
Difficulty settings would be nicer.
Transferable bonuses between the online universe and the real game would be up my alley as well.
Also, more character balance. Things are very lopsided in the current game, and there's such a gap between the haves and have-nots in Skylanders that they're scarcely worth playing together.

I'd have to agree with the online PVP.
I can't understand why that wouldn't have been something they'd have already done, it's got to be in the works, right?
I mean, I catch so much crap about why I like Spyro so much, I'd love to put all you Stealth Elf is the best folks in your place! - LOL

Like everyone else has stated, I would LOVE online PvP and co-op.
I would also like to see DLC of some sort, not just the Adventure Packs, but actually something you can download.
A longer main story and longer Adventure Pack levels would be nice.
I would also love a customizable 'home base' Skyland. A bit more in depth than the SSU one, but around the same idea.

1) About 3x as many single player levels. What they have in the basic game is about what you'd expect... for just the starter 3. When you have 26 guys, though, it's kinda silly since you have to replay things so many times or just grind a gold farming level over and over.
2) Online PvP and Co-Op. The former, obviously. I mean, if they can make the current Marvel VS Capcom so responsive, they could easily do it for a simple game like Skylanders. As for Co-Op, have it for the basic missions, but also have co-op only missions (which could be played on a console without internet connection), specifically ones that have extra hats or other buff items, to encourage more multiplay.
3) An attempt to balance the current Skylanders based on the playtesting knowledge we have now, for PvP purposes. Some are brokenly strong (Stealth Elf Pook Blade, Cynder Shadowdancer), while some are stupidly weak (anything Zap). I realize the new 16 (8 norms, 8 giants) will probably be unbalanced, but I'm OK with it if they fix the old ones somewhat. Don't even care if the new ones are all OP compared to the old ones, as long as those old ones are more balanced in line with each other.
4) An attempt to balance the different specs for each individual Skylander. Some specs are as close to useless, or even detrimental, to their users as can be. Examples being the Sword path for Ignitor (meh, FAR less effective than Fire Soul), the Ranged spec for Drill Sgt or Zap (both of which are actually DOWNGRADES from the standard attacks... in Drill's case, MIRV drills are weaker and less effective at hitting, in Zap's case, his limit of 3 projectiles means bouncing ones give him less damage as they waste fire time in the air).
5) A way to password-protect your Skylander so that other people can't 'claim ownership' or accidentally reset them. Great for the target audience, as parents can make sure one child can't just reset the figure used by another and thus prevent some massive sibling battle after the discovery of the 'ruined' figure.
6) More PvP Arenas. Specifically unlockable ones from doing events in the game. I want Kaos's arena from the end of Skylanders as a PvP arena (include the little castle turret towers in the corners as you see). I'd like something similar in the new game, where certain milestones in the game would unlock more arenas. The current way is only to have the special doodad (Volcanic Vault) sold with the game, or to buy an adventure pack.
7) Going off into the distance here, I'd like some "Capstone Spec" powers. Say, two more purchaseable powers added to the old Skylanders, with equivalent slots for the new Skylanders. There would be two or three 'capstone' specs for each one, and they would be independant of the current specs. Could use them for balance purposes as someone else listed (Say one that boosts Trigs hit points), or to introduce more move variety (add combos for some melee guys who don't have them), or even be an excuse to add some move but give a graphical alteration. 8) An attempt to fix currently 'broken' or 'playstyle boring' characters. Sonic Boom, for instance. A flight move, and egg move, and a single attack. Basically all you do is spam one button, while occaisionally hitting a second to move faster or to re-summon your dead pets. That's a playstyle one. A 'broken' one would be, say, Chop-Chop's shield. In the PS3 version at least, if he's hit with a projectile or attack with his shield up, he's pushed back about two bodylengths. It's IMPOSSIBLE to close on a fast-firing ranged character, but that should be his shtick. At some point he had this ability, as the Evil Chop-Chop used by Kaos can not only block without getting pushed back, but it can REFLECT attacks back at the shooter. This no-knockback-block should be available on both paths (doing this would also rocket up his PvP usefulness). Eruptor is something similar, in the middle of the two categories. He has 3 attacks, but he might as well have only 2 (as the lava balls are useless), and the spec you pick buffs either of the other moves, which means you effectively only have one button to mash 99% of the time, and occaisionally hit the other if special circumstances arrive.

I really feel like the minority here when I say I dont have any interest in online PvP. I want a larger more expansive game and game world. More in depth scenes with characters, though that becomes massively harder with going into over 40+ Skylanders. I'd rather have Giants last longer with DLC to expand levels rather than having to buy more stuff like Adventure Packs for physical "unlock codes" to items already in the game. I'd like a store in game to purchase items, reskin variants, and other bonuses on a universal bank system to actually make use of gold fully rather than it because meaningless to a character after they finish their upgrade path. Of course a higher level cap that will allow us to buy the secondary path would be welcome.

To be fair, you really don't have to fork out extra money for the Adventure Pack levels. It's not like the adventure pack portal item is 'consumed' or anything. If a friend has one, use his, and you have the level unlocked. If you are low on funds and your friends are too, you can each pick one to buy and pass them over to the next person so that you end up unlocking all those levels for everyone.
I agree it's annoying that you have to purchase them at all, but I really don't mind the scheme they used since you don't NEED to buy them as long as you aren't living in the middle of BFE.

I don't mind obviously in the fact I am collectioning Skylanders and plan on investing in the sequel. I also understand that *I* personally dont need to invest in the pack to unlock some items on the game. I still take issue with purchasing "unlock codes" for information I already purchased on the disc. The only reason I look past it with Skylanders is I am physically getting a collectible figure and the fact that the information/unlock is multi-platform, as well as just mentioned I can get it from someone else or give it to them as well. As a collector though I'll end up getting it anyways at one point or another.
Sadly even though I dont live in BFE(Bum-Frillin' Egypt) I feel I might as well sometimes as I have no friends that really share my similar interest in things such as Skylanders offline. Those that do are on places like this online.
