A new domain name bought by Activision called Skylanders patriots went up today. So are we getting two sequels, or maybe something else?
Thoughts?

I saw this link in my Google alerts: www.gamepeople.co.uk/news_360_skylanders-2.htm... and I just don't buy it. One of two things is happening here: A) The Skylanders Giants domain name was only tied to the upcoming Super Bowl and therefore they have something planned that will also incorporate the Patriots. There is no game that will be tied to the Giants and the Patriots. Perhaps they'll use the Sky Goals in a commercial or something like that... but Super Bowl commercials are crazy expensive and don't even target their main demographic. B) The Skylanders Giants domain is legit and is tied to the sequel. However, someone over at Activision thought it would be hilarious to drop some Patriots hints out there and see what kind of wildfire would ensue. Those are my thoughts.

Oh wow, JUST noticed the Superbowl connection! I'm very not into the NFL, so it makes sense I suppose So I'm gonna suppose it is a promotion of some sort than, rather than sequel news. Can't rule too much out, but that is what I will go with for now. Thanks for that Finn!

When was the Giants domain name sites purchased? Was it before the Giants won the game to get into the Superbowl or after?

Could it also be something how Starwars A New Hope was originally called "Blue Harvest"? Could it be a red herring to keep us off of their butts while in secret they conduct the real work?

How great would that be if Toys For Bob releases two new Skylanders that are football themed to represent the Giants and Patriots?
Of course, I'd rather have seen one for the Niners and Ravens, but hey, I'm not bitter!

I was thinking a Patriots Skylander with a Cannon for a right arm (Brady). I admit I do not know enough of the G-Men to come up with a good premise that isn't copying the previous one (so Eli is out). Something for Jacobs, maybe? Something tank-like?
I really loved what Coke did a long time ago with the Monsters of the Gridiron series. I wish they'd do that again... maybe Skylanders is the way to get it out.

The "eli" figure would have to be Archie big and tall, Peyton just shorter than Archie, and then a diminutive eli looking up and mouthing "thanks for the name guys. now i can make it into the hof on name recognition."
It would have 100 luck, 20 power, 20 defense, and 20 speed. It would be worse than the worst possible character ever.

I think Activision just knew who was going to win the matchup:

So what I got from that video was that:
Zook gets rereleased with a new pose Did he say 24 of the original Skylanders being rereleased with new poses? Older characters may come out with light up features, such as Prism Break There are 4 special light-up characters

(you hear that? Thats the sound of greed!)

Thanks for posting that video! I've read most of what Geekdad has written regarding Skylanders, so it was a bonus to see him talking about the new game.
As far as the video goes, I don't mind so much that they're releasing the old figures with new poses. A lot of folks will jump in now and won't own any of the old figures. Might as well break out some cool new poses! I personally won't be buying the new ones, but I understand some serious collectors will. That's up to them, really.
Something that intrigued me about that video was the statement that Toys for Bob only did the work on the Wii version in the original. Some of you may have already known that, but I didn't. So the Wii is the one that's the way they wanted it - all the version variations we've noted were changes made by someone else entirely. This made it sound to me like the new game will be the same across all platforms. GREAT! It will be that much easier for us to all talk about the game!
And it clears up one of the challenges I've seen regarding online multiplayer. Simply put, if there even is a way to play my Wii version against your PS3 version, how would Drill Sergeant work? Crazy fast charging PS3 style, or super lame weaksauce Wii style? There has to be consistency between the systems.
