A while back I was working on a list of which Skylanders were best at getting the time trial achievement on each level.
Who did you all use?

Still working on a few of them personally. We got new figures so I've been doing more Heroic Challenges lately. For the ones finished so far I mostly used Spyro, though now I think I'll be switching to Stealth Elf since I finally have her. I believe shes a hair faster than Spyro combined with knocking out the last of the Speed Bonus HCs + Devil Helmet.

Stealth Elf would probably be the best option for time trials. She does that roll thing to move fast and when confronted with a baddie, takes them out rather fast.
I havent done any heroic challenges with Stealthy, so she is just a base lvl10 sans hat.

I checked the Spyro Wiki just to see what the stats were listed at. There are several listed as being maxed at 90 on speed. I didnt see any 100 unless I overlooked someone by accident. I think Stealth Elf is likely the best with the helmet, and combined with her acrobatic move thats a little easier to pull off over and over compared to say Flameslinger (also listed as 90) with his dash that seems to have a brief cool down period.

Pulver Dragon path Bash, because his charge move's not only long lasting, but it also makes him resistant to disrutions and defeats many enemies in 1 go. Also, he's easier to steer than Stealth Elf's jumpy movement.

Never had a single issue on this with Stealth Elf. Sped right through, no retries. Bash is another good choice, though, and on PS360, Drill Sergeant will demolish them. Cynder, as well.

Which console do you play? We tried Ghost Roaster for the first time last night on the 360 and felt like his charge attack was much better there than on the Wii.
I haven't done any time trials for a while, but I think at this point the key item has to be the Winged Boots. I'm guessing that's why they gave it such a short time to be active compared to other magic items.

Ive played him on both the Wii and 360 and agree with u his charge seems much better on the 360! And i dont have the winged boots but just hearing about them seems as if it would help allot:)
