The console difference can make or break certain characters entirely. Eruptor, which is junk on the PS3, is godly on the Wii. Conversely, Drill Sgt is awesome to play (but very low damage) on the PS3, but has no speed boost worth bothering on the Wii and also keeps his low damage. I can say Flameslinger is night and day too, and on the Wii it's into the useless heap.
This really messes with the rankings. Someone mentioned that the Wii version of Cynder versus Stealth Elf is roughly a tossup. It's not even close on the PS3, Cynder annihilates Stealth easily... and that's even where the slow effect of Shadowdancer does not work.
Apparently someone on this board also mentioned that the original was designed for the Wii, and all the ports will be statistically identical on the Giants game. Which really saddens me, as pretty much all the guys that are good somewhere else (where I think those development teams tried to buff them) will probably be reduced to Wii standards in the future one. I hope not. I hope Toys For Bob or whomever tests the other versions and picks and chooses the best (Keep Wii Eruptor and Trigger Happy--he does less damage with Yamato and takes longer to build--, keep PS3/XBox Drill Sgt, Ignitor, Flameslinger, etc).
Yagg's right for the PS3 version of Sonic Boom too. She may do more raw damage on the roar path, but it's just one attack. Having the egg effects, instant growth babies, and extra pet just opens up too many options to not choose it.
Also, though it's a bit of a thread necro, I prefer the Ultimate Rainbower path on Whirlwind. Again, a PS3 issue. While the clouds are neat, they tick for about 30 damage every second or so. Spyro will do more damage just spamming firebolts. They also pretty much force you to only use clouds, as using the rainbow will explode off them and thus you trade continuous lightning for short blast damage. The additional rainbow mortar travels MUCH farther, can go up cliffs at a greater distance, and there's a "sweet spot" where if you hit them with the close mortar it will Knockback them into the one behind it for damage (plus, with the Soul Gem upgrade, that same sweet spot will let both explosions heal your partner, great for keeping kids alive). Plus, you can fire the motar once and just charge forward spamming clouds, creating a chain of mushroom clouds. Finally, you can charge the Rainbow Black Hole (which doesn't suck on this version as it ticks RAPIDLY, several times per second, and drags the enemy around) while on the ground, tap the flight button, and can IMMEDIATELY turn to face whichever direction you want, which helps nullify the 'I move stupidly slow while charging it' effect.
