Ladies and gentlemen, it's time for our first (of hopefully many) forum giveaway! Next week, someone will be receiving a package in the mail that will contain this crazy tropical Skylander who was so fond of himself that he had to make more! Here's how it's going to work: only registered forum users can win. Moderators will be excluded from winning, but can still participate in the process. In order to enter the drawing for Double Trouble, you must do three things: 1) Have an official account. Just wanted to say that again in case you missed it before. 2) Go to the Introductions thread and tell us a little bit about yourself. 3) Because this is our first contest, head over here and share a story with us about one of your first experiences with Skylanders. That's all! Once that's done, your name will be entered into the drawing, and a winner will be chosen at random at the close of the contest. The official end time is Tuesday, January 31, 5:00pm CST (which is our official forum time zone). The winner will be drawn shortly after and will be immediately announced. Of course the winner will have to PM me their mailing address so I can send you the figure. If you don't want to give out that information then please don't enter the contest! I will cover all shipping costs, even if it ends up going overseas. So there you go - spread the word to your friends and let's start giving away some Skylanders!

Next time there is a contest, how about something that requires a little creativity? (Instead of names in a hat) Fan art, stories, repainting figures or whatever...

When we started this site, we didn't have many members. Not everyone has the ability to draw, so we figured something easy to start with. No need to be rude about a free figure give away. Have faith, they will get better and more elaborate as we grow as a community.

sorry if I came off as rude. I think contests like this are great! and very generous! I just think I'd have better odds of winning if it involved creativity!

No problem! By the looks of things, you'd definitely have an advantage if the contest involved drawing pictures of Skylanders As V said earlier, we will do plenty more in the future, and the contests will require more skill. In fact, we'll be making an announcement regarding that later this week!

To add the counter-weight to what graz is saying, as someone who cannot draw well, I think it would be a bit unfair to others who cannot draw/paint/sculpt/what have you. At least with a random drawing everyone has a chance to win, not whoever has the coolest drawing.
After all, this game is centered around children... how many children out there can outdraw an adult artist? (that is hypothetical, and not intended to be answered -- is it possible? yes. likely? no.)

Any kind of artisitc type of contest here will involve me using photoshop and moving layers around until I get the look I want. But these are contests/giveaways so it doesnt really matter who or what wins.

I honestly don't see a issue with an art contest but I'm likely in the minority. Not everyone can always qualify for every contest.

An art contest, you say? ... Well, if we were to, say, have an art contest starting on Wednesday, it wouldn't just be for the biggest display of virtuoso skill. There's a lot more to a piece than just how it looks. Something can be mechanically perfect, but still have flaws in ideology. Besides, there are many ways to make fan art. Photographs, drawings, clay sculptures, custom figures, dioramas, even a story if it's well-written. Fan art can mean a wide variety of things. Also, we'd be doing separate divisions for children and adults, if this hypothetical art competition were to start on Wednesday.

How are you to tell based on what I entered into the system when I registered?

Because, as mods, we are all-knowing and all-seeing:P . If you enter(you meaning themorpheus), you will be judged as an adult. The whole thing works on an honor system. Please try to stick to it. Trying to bend the rules or find loopholes or break the rules will inevitably cause us to stop doing these before we even have fun
